During the Rugby World Cup every town in Seine-Saint-Denis will be celebrating this event. The Springboks are guests of honour to the department and on this occasion the work of South-African artists will be highlighted through a series of splendid and exceptional events. It is a moment not to be missed, a moment of conviviality and emotions shared - an unforgettable time to be had by all!

From 6th to 9th September

7/9 at 4pm World Sports Forum debate "globalisation of rugby : good or bad " in Saint-Denis
7/9 around 7pm 1st world record attempt to make the longest "Paquito Chocolatero", starting from the Town Hall in Saint-Ouen
7/9 at 9pm Opening match of the Rugby world Cup at the Stade de France : France - Argentina. For this 6th edition, 20 rugby teams will confront each other to decide who will be England's successor.
8/9 from 6pm to 9pm "La mêlée des mondes", a giant street parade directed by Philippe Decouflé in Saint-Denis
8/9 as night falls "Transhumance", a street parade with the company Oposito, street performances in Bobigny
8/9 at 9pm a "Feria" evening, organised by the Basque community centre in Saint-Ouen
From 8/9 to 20/10 an exhibition by Edouard Levé, photographs on the theme of rugby at the Forum in Blanc-Mesnil.
9/9 at 8pm the Soweto Choir at the MC93 in Bobigny.

13/9 at 8.30pm the Soweto Choir at "espace 93" in Clichy-sous-bois
14/9 at 4pm 1st debate at the World Sports Forum entitled "get racism out of the grounds !" After the initial success of the first edition of the World Sports Forum in 2003 during the World Athletics Championship, the World Sports Forum is ready once again to comment and discuss on the important topics around the evolution of rugby and sport in Saint-Denis

21/9 at 9pm match at the Stade de France : France - Ireland
From 24/9 to 4/11 "Désirréalités" an exhibition presenting a dozen or so South African contemporary artists including Andrew Tshabangu, Sam Nhlengethwa, Lolo Velekho……… at the "espace 1789" in Saint-Ouen. This exhibition presents two major forms of the current artistic expression of South African artists, photo and video.
From 28th to 30th September
28/9 at 4pm World Sports Forum debate "Go for green, go outdoors ?" in Saint-Denis
29/9 at 8.30pm evening performance "Atmosphère" devoted to South Africa at the "Espace Michel Simon" in Noisy-le-Grand hosted by the South African singer and guitarist Sam Tshabalala, exiled in France during Apartheid.

30/9 around 7pm 4th world record attempt to make the longest "Paquito Chocolatero", starting from the Basque community centre in Saint-Ouen

From 4th to 8th October

From 4th to 8th October a major event in the world of art and antiques : the 3rd world Antiques fair "Mondial de l'Antiquité" to be held in the Paris Saint-Ouen Flea Market along with the hundreds of dealers in second-hand items. A veiled reference to the world of sport and the Rugby World Cup, as the Flea market will be the setting for giant-sized sculptures created by the former rugby player - Jean-Pierre Rives.

19th and 20th /10 Nelisiwe Xaba South African choreographer and dancer at the Forum in Blanc Mesnil
20/10 at 7pm 7th and final world record attempt to make the longest "Paquito", starting from the Basque community centre in Saint-Ouen
20/10 at 9pm last and final event… the rugby world cup final at the Stade de France, bringing to a close 6 weeks of spectacular events and emotions!
20/10 at 9pm "La Ultima", an evening organised by the Paris Basque community centre in Saint-Ouen


A lot of cinemas will show long and short length films in September and October, on the themes of rugby and South Africa.

Rugby Tour : A mini rugby pitch will be set up in the centre of Saint-Denis throughout the World Cup allowing everyone to discover the game of rugby, its rules and its values.
Street festivals : Banda music, orchestras and fanfares will liven up the village Rugbycolor, the streets, the squares, the town-centre shops and neighborhoods in Saint-Denis.

in Saint-Ouen
Numerous activities will take place on the rugby pitch set up for the occasion in the Jean Jaurès square in Saint-Ouen.

TV coverage
French matches broadcast live on a giant screen in "la salle Barbara" Jean Jaurès square and in the Paris Basque community center, 59 avenue Gabriel Péri in Saint-Ouen.
French and South African matches broadcast live in the "espace Michel Simon" in Noisy-le-Grand.
